A ringing endorsement
St Mary’s Church, Woodbridge has received a ringing endorsement from local supporters who handed over a £40,000 cheque to refurbish the church bells.
The Friends of St Mary’s handed over the cheque to Rector Kevan McCormack (pictured) who said he was delighted with the latest donation by the Friends which would enable the church to carry out much needed work on its bells in the autumn.
Since their launch in 2012 the Friends have raised over £100,000 for church repairs, including exterior stonework to the North Porch and elsewhere and repairs to a number of the stained glass windows. Funds have been raised through an ongoing programme of concerts and other events as well as donations and subscriptions from over 120 Friends of the church.
Events in support of the Friends coming up in St Mary’s include:
- Saturday 19 th October, 7.30pm – a return performance by popular demand of the Riverside Musical Theatre’s Showstopper Favourites concert.
- Sunday 24 th November, 3.30pm – the annual Woodbridge Prom concert with Ipswich School presenting a diverse programme of orchestral and chamber music.

St. Mary's and the Community
The Friends of St Mary’s Church have raised over £100,000 since they were formed in 2012, helping pay for a variety of essential refurbishments to the church building, including the church roof, masonry and carving, stained glass windows and the church bells.
The Friends have also purchased a defibrillator which is fixed on the side of the church centre and can be accessed by anyone in the vicinity.
This year the Friends are aiming to raise £15,000 to fund further repairs to the church tower. Support by the Riverside 100 Musical Theatre Company and other local groups is very much appreciated.
